Anxiety is difficult. It can make us feel like we are on a constant roller coaster ride. It can be unrelenting and can cause a lot of uncomfortable feelings. We also wonder if we are the only ones feeling this way. It’s normal to worry about some things on occasion, or stress when we have something big going on in our lives. But it can be really life altering when we feel this constant anxiety all the time. 

Sometimes the more that we try to control our emotions, including anxiety, the more intense they become. Alissa helps her clients to understand the roots of the anxiety while also building tolerance of experiencing these emotions, instead of pushing them away. Do you ever wonder why using a bunch of “coping skills” doesn’t really take your anxiety away? That is often because we are intending to control something that is often very difficult to control. Instead, offering compassion and kindness to yourself in these difficult moments can help ease the suffering, even when we can’t always control the pain, or the emotions. Alissa helps her clients to work on adding emotions like peace, calm, and joy into their lives instead of trying to take away other emotions, which often just intensifies them.

Alissa helps adults and teens who are struggling with anxiety. She also helps clients understand the biological and instinctual aspects that drive anxiety, which can help us feel more empowered with our emotional health. She also incorporates techniques such as meditation, guided imagery, and progressive muscle relaxation. But we also dive in to discover the root causes of your anxiety as well, so we aren’t just covering it up or sweeping root causes under the rug.

Anxiety and other emotions such as irritability are a natural human experience, but Alissa understands that these can sometimes feel very out of control and become unmanageable. She helps her clients identify these emotions while they are more manageable before they snowball to become more intense emotions.
